International Publishing

Cambridge Publishing Management has been producing British and American English editions of foreign titles for over 14 years. Both our editorial and production teams are vastly experienced in managing the unique demands of delivering files suitable for co-editions.

We understand the importance of separating text and graphics and that all files must be ready at the same time to allow simultaneous printing. Our editors have various degrees of knowledge in several modern foreign languages, allowing us to go directly to the source where necessary for cutting and filling translated text to fit the space allocated.

The translators we commission will always be subject specialists. We know that Americanisation is much more than just adopting different spellings and units of measurement: foodstuffs, growing seasons for plants, common names of animals and flowers, to name a few, require a thorough adaptation. This is why, for American editions, we use translators and copy-editors who either live in the US or travel there on a regular basis, so that we can deliver a text that is truly meaningful to its readership.

Parragon’s German office, for which we have recently produced 100 Diving Sites and Yoga, is one of our longest-standing clients. We have also worked for American publishers Black Dog & Leventhal, and French publishers La Martinière, Flammarion and Éditions Gründ, for whom we produced the highly regarded Benezit Dictionary of Artists.

Our translation from Old Dutch and French of The Complete Letters of Van Gogh for Bulfinch, an imprint of Little, Brown and Company, won the prestigious Unhoefer Prize for achievement in humanities in 2007.
